Jan Behrendt Ibsø

With over 20 years of experience in the global energy and power sectors, Jan has established a distinguished career leading and implementing profitable growth strategies while streamlining the delivery of professional services and solutions. Having held key roles in major organisations such as DNV, SGS, ABS Group, and UL, Jan rejoined COWI in 2017, bringing a wealth of expertise in renewable energy and offshore project management.

Jan has worked on both sides of project development, from direct involvement in renewable energy projects (onshore and offshore wind) to consultancy, advisory, and certification services. 

With deep insights into market dynamics, technology and business processes within the global renewable energy industry, he has built strong relationships with major stakeholders and has been a pioneer in establishing new technologies, processes and best practices for the offshore wind sector.

Jan’s extensive portfolio includes involvement in over 40 offshore wind farm projects and 30 offshore oil and gas projects across Europe and the US. Additionally, he has contributed to industry standards as an elected member of national standardisation committees under the US Department of Energy (DOE), BSH (Germany) and the Danish Energy Agency (DEA).

Having lived and worked in Denmark (10 years), Germany (6 years), and the US (10 years), Jan has also conducted business globally, particularly in the UK and Norway, and spent a year in Japan. 

This diverse experience has cultivated a strong global professional network, a robust business platform and a nuanced understanding of cross-cultural business dynamics.
